The Journey of Roxstar

What a journey!

Roxstar’s transformation began in Turkey with a condition survey carried out by ACP Surveyors. At that stage, the scope was clearly defined: ACP’s role was limited to assessing the yacht and producing a detailed worklist to support a refit aimed at resale. The yacht had been inherited by her Owner, who intended to prepare her for the market through a targeted, value-driven intervention.

However, as the initial findings took shape and the complexity of the project began to emerge, a relationship of trust developed. What started as a technical assignment soon evolved into a broader involvement, with the Owner entrusting ACP Surveyors with the supervision of the entire refit project.

From that moment on, ACP Surveyors assumed a central role: refining the worklist, advising on the selection of the most suitable shipyard, and setting the technical and operational direction of the project.

As works progressed, the Owner developed a strong connection with Roxstar. What was once a refit intended to facilitate a sale gradually turned into a decision to keep the yacht. This shift brought with it a significant expansion of the project scope, with increased investment and a renewed focus on quality, performance, and onboard experience: an evolution that ACP Surveyors continued to support throughout the process.

The journey was not without its challenges. The team had to navigate issues such as poor construction engineering, inconsistent build quality, and the absence of original drawings, factors that added complexity to both planning and execution. These constraints required flexibility, technical expertise, and constant coordination, with ACP Surveyors playing a central role in managing technical alignment and maintaining project direction.

Beyond resolving existing deficiencies, the refit aimed to elevate Roxstar to a new standard: improving existing systems, integrating new technologies, and optimizing onboard management to enhance usability and enjoyment for the Owner.

A special mention goes to the Owner, remarkably young, yet highly determined and deeply involved in every phase of the project. Her proactive approach and strong attention to the tight timelines typical of refit projects played a crucial role in driving the process forward.

Throughout the project, the strength of collaboration proved essential. Burgess stood out for its consistently proactive approach, remaining closely involved and providing valuable support at key and often critical moments. At the same time, the crew’s constant presence, flexibility, and cooperative spirit played a quiet but fundamental role in keeping operations running smoothly on a daily basis.

This collective effort found its culmination in the work carried out by NCA Refit, who successfully delivered the project in line with both industry standards and the Owner’s expectations. Around them, a network of trusted contractors and new collaborators contributed with professionalism and adaptability, responding effectively to the evolving technical demands of the refit.

Roxstar ultimately represents more than a refit. It is a project that highlights the energy and determination of a new generation within the yachting industry: guided by experienced players and driven by fresh perspectives. Notably, the ACP Surveyors Project Manager, at just 27 years old, demonstrated remarkable tenacity and passion, supported throughout by a responsive and dedicated management team.

A project that began with the intention to let go – and ended with the decision to hold on.
